Bill Aims to Prevent Fake ID'sBill Aims to Prevent Fake ID's By Heidi Loranger A new bill in the legislature is targeting younger drivers in an effort to put an end to fake ID's. Representative Kevin Meyer is sponsoring a bill to prevent people under the age of 25 from renewing their licenses by mail, instead they would have to renew in person and forfeit their old ID cards. Meyer says the bill will cut back situations where the licensee gives the card to a younger sibling to use as a fake ID. "It's going to make it harder I think to at least use your drivers license as a means to use a fake ID and I think most establishments use the drivers license as the main form of positive identification," he said. Republican Representative Meyer argues House Bill 388 will also help reduce the liability on industries that rely in licenses as a means of identification.
